Indonesia, what happening?

Along the Indo/Australian plate boundary along Indonesia there were a spate of 5+ magnitude earthquakes today.

As you can see in the image there is a distinct line of quakes across the plate boundary. While none of these are particularly damaging it sure is a pattern. The area is quite active normally and a line of quakes like this is not common but statistically not unlikely just rare. There was a few days recently that there was no or little activity and this may just be a correction of that situation.

I don’t think this is anything to worry about on its own but it merits watching this zone for further activity that could indicate something abnormal. This abnormal is possible but unlikely but could include more severe quakes and volcanic activity. But with a string of quakes like this it is more likely that a the stress is already dissipated and a lull in activity will happen.
