A couple of interesting quakes today, first was the 6.6 Solomon Islands quake. This medium depth quake on the northern Indo-Australian border is in the subducting portion of the fault. The largest of the week and in a fairly safe place to have a sizable quake.
The more interesting quake though was the 5.2 Iran quake. This is on the same fault line as quakes in Turkey and some other quakes in Iran. Very shallow and at the south end of the quake zone this quake is close to the end of the historic quake zone on this fault. Historically not a lot of large quakes on this fault.
